Lunar New Year 2026 – Key Dates and Impact on Logistics
The Year of the Horse will be welcomed on February 17, 2026, with Lunar New Year celebrations - one of the most cherished traditions originating in Chinese culture, as families reunite and festivities fill the season.
This holiday extends beyond China and is widely observed across the Asia Pacific region, including Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, Vietnam, and more.
CBAM – Full Implementation as of January 1, 2026 for Imports into the EU
The EU will fully implement the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) as of January 1, 2026. The aim is to create equal competitive conditions and prevent the relocation of emissions-intensive production to countries with lower climate protection requirements (“carbon leakage”).
Importers of certain goods such as steel, aluminum, cement, fertilizers, and electricity will in future have to bear CO₂ costs comparable to those for goods produced within the EU.
EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) to be postponed again
The EU Parliament and Council agree: The EU Deforestation Regulation is to be postponed by one year. If the EU Commission also gives its final approval, the amending regulation can be adopted and published later this year, so that the EUDR will not enter into force until December 30, 2026.

It should go without saying that the global community must take consistent action to protect the climate in order to safeguard the livelihoods of future generations. But a look at the news in recent months suggests that the issue of sustainability is no longer top of mind. For example, the United States is withdrawing from the Paris Agreement on climate change and focusing on fossil fuels. And the European Union is revisiting painstakingly crafted agreements on sustainability reporting obligations and discussing whether climate targets that have already been put in place might be too ambitious after all.
DACHSER drives from Ireland to the European continent
DACHSER is utilizing its customs expertise and its leading European groupage network to introduce the new 'Smart Landbridge Connect' service. As before Brexit, the logistics provider is now once again driving from Ireland across the British landbridge to continental Europe. Compared to ferry connections, this route offers more flexibility, shorter transit times and more frequent departures. This makes DACHSER the first major logistics provider to revive this Pre-Brexit service.

DACHSER at ProWein 2025: Logistics for old and new worlds of wine

DACHSER strengthens its global network for Life Science and Healthcare Logistics
Since the beginning of January, further locations in DACHSER's global network have been certified according to GDP (Good Distribution Practice). Existing certifications were renewed in audits. This means that the logistics provider meets the high requirements for the transportation of pharmaceutical products at locations in North and South America, Europe and Asia.
Making dynamic adjustments to logistics networks
In October 2024, two authors —Christian Kille, Professor of Retail Logistics and Operations Management at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt (THWS), and Andreas Backhaus, a freelance lecturer—published a study entitled “Chemical logistics on the move” (in German), which was supported by DACHSER Chem Logistics. Their study analyzed the current and future challenges and opportunities for chemical logistics in Germany and concluded with six recommendations for action. Now follows the double interview with author Christian Kille and Michael Kriegel, Department Head DACHSER Chem Logistics, to intensify the recommendations and to learn about the opportunities that arise from their practical implementation.

With this award, smapOne AG honours the logistics service provider's success in building a global community of employees who build their own applications without programming knowledge and thus drive digitalization within the company.
DACHSER builds new logistics center in Zaragoza, Spain
DACHSER is investing 14 million euros in the expansion of its logistics capacities in north-eastern Spain. The new building in Zaragoza is scheduled to open at the beginning of 2026.

H₂ pioneer in practice
At its Magdeburg branch, DACHSER has been using a heavy-duty truck with hydrogen fuel-cell technology for more than a year and a half. With zero local emissions, the truck proves its suitability for regular use in short- and long-distance transport every day in two-shift operation.
